American Youthworks rolls in the first boulder to make a stone bench
The Friends of the Convict Hill Quarry Park work with Parc Smith and his American Youthworks team (thanks to the grant we received from the Austin Parks Foundation--read on in the blog for more information) to tackle big jobs in the park. They recently completed installing rough cedar fence posts along the front of the park property. Their second job entails rolling two giant (over 1 ton) boulders into the park and carving them into stone benches. We located one bench centrally in the park, and we hope another can be rolled onto the ledge on the western trail. We chose both spots based on their view of the park and their location under nice shade trees.
